Looking for a career in Dance? Erindale College Talented Dance Program is for you!
Erindale College’s Talented Dance Program (TDP) is an elite program of excellence designed to extend and develop the talents of dance students in the performing arts. The TDP course is designed to challenge and support the talents of the dancers. Students are taught by a highly qualified, professionally trained and experienced dance teacher, as well as guest choreographers. The program focuses on dance performance, technique, strength, flexibility and fitness. Developing and improving skills in creating compositions and developing and perfecting skills in understanding dance theory.
TDP students will continually advance in their dance technique, develop in their creation of dance compositions, be taught to think as an analytical dancer and extend their performance quality skills. Dancers will gain skills in a broad range of dance styles and techniques. Including but not limited to ballet, contemporary, lyrical, jazz, musical theatre, hip hop, commercial, street dance and world styles. This exposure to a wide range of dance genres is important for developing well rounded professional dancers, who want to further their career in dance. TDP assists students with developing showreels, dance CV's and preparing for auditions when applying for tertiary dance institutions, and other careers in the field of dance.
Prospective students must submit a completed expression of interest form to the college, as well as complete an audition. The audition will include a short interview, a technique class, an improvisation task and a short combination that you will be taught on the day. Lastly you will need to prepare a 1-minute solo in a style of your choice (bring your music) to also dance on the day. Audition pieces may be sent via DVD only if audition cannot be attended. Students’ academic transcripts as well as references from dance teachers will form part of the application. Suitable students will then be offered a place at Erindale College subject to vacancies.
