
Vocational courses provide competency-based training that is workplace relevant and develops skills that enhance training and employment opportunities beyond college. Students work towards the completion of specific competencies that will allow them to receive a nationally recognised qualification.
Erindale College, trading as South Canberra Schools Vocational Training, is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO Code: 88000) and as such has the capacity to grant national industry certification under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). Students are provided with access to this national certification in all vocational (V) courses available at the college. Vocational courses at Erindale College offer students excellent opportunities to develop real skills for the workplace, as well as pursuing a ACT Senior Secondary Certificate. These courses integrate college-based learning and training with structured workplace learning, where students can apply their classroom learning in authentic work place situations. Courses have a practical focus and include significant on the job training opportunities. They are continually being updated in line with National Training Packages, so that students acquire skills and knowledge which have recent endorsement from industry.
Courses support young people's transitions to employment, vocational and higher education pathways. Other benefits of participating in a VET subject include obtaining practical experience from work, gaining insight into how workplaces operate, developing employability skills, improving interpersonal skills and allowing students to explore potential career paths.

*Students must remain enrolled in this course for two years, i.e. a Year 12 student is not eligible to begin this course in their final year at college.
**A one-off $595.00 payment is a requirement for these courses, subject to external price adjustments.

A Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Literacy (LLND) screening process is undertaken as part of pre-enrolment in order to provide advice to students on the suitability of the training product.
The school has entered a Third Party Agreement and will be recruiting prospective VET students, providing student support services, and conducting training and assessment on behalf of Binnacle Training.
