Talented Sports Program

The Erindale College Talented Sports Program (TSP) commenced in 1993.  The program has been developed in response to the needs of students who wish to achieve excellence in both academic and sporting pursuits. TSP offers students the opportunity to develop their sporting ability in selected squads with specialised coaching staff while providing a supportive and structured environment in which to maximise their academic potential.

The TSP program offers a unique opportunity for ACT college students. With access to contemporary facilities for student use, and elite level staff and coaches specialising in coaching, strength and conditioning and athlete career education, students in the Talented Sports Program can pursue their studies as part of an Accredited, Tertiary or Vocational learning package.

Our partnerships beyond the college extend opportunities for students in their chosen sport. Current partners include:

  • Erindale Leisure Centre
  • Canberra Raiders
  • Sydney FC
  • AFL Canberra
  • ACT Cricket

The success of the program has been recognised at national and international level, with visiting administrators and teachers from throughout Australia, Malaysia, New Zealand, The Peoples' Republic of China and South Africa.

Sydney FC Academy School Program

As part of the Sky Blues ongoing efforts to expand the reach of their talent identification and player development pathways a new Sydney FC Academy School program was launched in Canberra in partnership with Erindale College in 2019.

The Sydney FC Academy School program at Erindale College offer students a unique opportunity to study and train at the newest of seven networked Sydney FC Academy Schools. The program is the second satellite Sydney FC Academy School program outside of the Sydney metropolitan area joining Illawarra Sports High School in Wollongong. Other programs in the Sydney metro area include Endeavour Sports High School (Sutherland Shire), Narrabeen Sports High School (Northern Beaches), Bossley Park High School (South West Sydney), Crestwood High School (Hills District) and Matraville Sports High School (Eastern Suburbs).

Technical training is provided by approved Sydney FC coaches with academic and wellbeing support offered by school staff dedicated to providing a first-class coaching and learning experience for young players in a full-time year-round training environment. In addition to training with their local clubs, players train three times per week during school hours and participate in Sydney FC talent identification days, the Sydney FC cup, attend match day and training ground experiences and participate in training sessions with Sydney FC academy staff during monitoring and support visits. Over time the program aims to collaborate with local clubs helping to provide more opportunities to players, develop additional player pathways, produce a broader base of talent and assist with quality long-term development of young players.

If you would like to be considered for this exciting opportunity, please contact the school.
