The Science Academy offers a wide range of courses in T, A and E streams. Studying Science is a prerequisite for further studies and employment in engineering, research sciences, environmental studies and health sciences, including nursing, medicine, nutrition and dentistry.
Erindale College offers courses in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Health Science (formerly Human Biology), Psychology, Earth and Environmental Science, Health Services and Food Science and Nutrition. Students with a Science subject on their ACT Senior Secondary Certificate are favoured by the CIT and most trades prefer students with Science in their background.
Students within Science courses are encouraged to participate in a range of extension opportunities. Recent success stories include:
- Gold medallists, 2 years running, in the ANU Titration Competition,
- Winners of the UC Analytical Chemistry Competition,
- Multiple participants in the National Youth Science Forum – a 9-day Science exploration at the ANU,
- Science research through the ACT Science Mentors program – a year long project working alongside a research scientist,
- Participation in university H courses, extension courses complementing Erindale College courses in Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
- Adoption of the Health Services E course E course, a 2-year course culminating in a Certificate 3 in Health Services and Assistance,
- Continuing outstanding post-graduation student successes, including a former student winning a prestigious overseas scholarship during their study in Psychology at the Australian National University.
